Areas of Utilization

Sodium Sulfate

Sodium sulfate is used mainly in the production of detergents, paper, glass, textile dyeing and various chemical products.

- Textile Industry

Sodium sulfate has a characteristic influencing the textile paints to make the dyeing process more homogenous and healthier. We would like you to pay attention to two features of Sodium Sulphate.

1. Sodium sulfate provides smoother coloring and minimizes apraxia by slowing down the speed of painting, especially when painting with reactive dyestuff.

2. Reactive dyestuffs are dyestuffs which is capable of dissolving in high amounts in water. Electrolytes, which must be used during dyeing, have a detrimental effect on the solubility of the stain.

Sodium sulfate reduces the solubility less than other electrolytes. Let’s explain it with an example. C.I reactive blue 19 normally dissolves in water to 100 g/l. When an average of 50g/l salt is added, the solubility decreases from 100 grams to 5 grams. If sulfate is used instead of salt, 7.5 grams is reduced from 100 grams at this time. As it can be seen, it provides an advantage of 2.5 grams compared to the salt. This advantage is more important in low amounts. Sulfate is commonly used in wool dyeing in many countries. It constitutes a growing areas in the countries mainly produce wool products such as Turkey, Russia, China, Italy, Japan and the United States of America. Sodium Chloride (Salt) and Sodium Sulphate aqueous solutions are generally used in dyeing process in textile industry. The superiority of these two salt dyeing against each other is shown in the following chart.

- Detergent Industry

The main use of sodium sulfate is the powder detergent industry. Natural sodium sulfate has an ideal filling function. It’s moldy, neutral and cheap. In almost all countries, as a result of new legislation on air and water contamination introduced into practice, the usage of phosphate in detergents has been reduced, resulting in increased consumption of sodium sulfate. Sodium sulfate, which is around 20% in detergent formulations, can occasionally be found up to 40% in certain formulas.

- Glass Industry

Another industry where sodium sulphate is used is the Glass Industry. 3% of sodium sulfate is used for forming frit.

-Paper Industry

Since it is the basic raw material of the paper industry, the cellulose has a very important place in the world economy. Sodium sulfate is one of the most important chemicals used in the production of cellulose and cooking fiber.

- Fertilizer Industry

Sodium sulfate is the basic substance used in the production of potassium sulfate, an extremely important fertilizer in the cultivation of sensitive plants such as cotton, maize, tobacco, tea, banana and citrus.

- In the production of various chemicals

Sodium sulfate is used in the production of chemicals such as aluminum sulfate, sodium sulfur, sodium hydroxide.

Magnesium Sulfate

Magnesium Sulphate is consumed mainly in medicine, weaving, cosmetics, and agriculture industries. Through the utilization of this product in medicine, high blood pressure and lack of magnesium amount in blood can be controlled. Magnesium sulphate is used widely to increase the magnesium level in the soil.

Chemistry

In this field, magnesium sulphate salt is utilized in crystallization processes.

Agriculture

Magnesium sulphate, provides Magnesium (Mg+) ion need for the chlorophyll of plants.

Detergent

Magnesium sulphate is mainly used in detergent industry to improve the consistence of the solution.
